Proxy Configuration FAQ

Basics

A proxy forwards traffic so sites see the proxy IP, not your real address. Virtual Browser supports HTTP/HTTPS, SOCKS5, residential and datacenter IPs.

Add a proxy

  1. Open Proxy management in the client
  2. Add proxy
  3. Fill type, host, port, username/password if needed
  4. Save

Examples:

HTTP: 192.168.1.100:8080
SOCKS5: 192.168.1.100:1080
Auth: user:pass@192.168.1.100:8080

Connection fails

CauseFix
Dead proxyContact provider; try another IP
Wrong typeHTTP vs SOCKS5 must match
Auth errorVerify user/pass; check expiry
FirewallAllow Virtual Browser outbound

Test a proxy

  1. Use Test connection in the client
  2. Launch a profile and visit an IP check site
  3. Confirm country matches your target market

Slow speed

  • Pick geographically closer nodes
  • Prefer residential for strict sites, datacenter for speed
  • Reduce concurrent profiles

Best practices

  • One stable IP per sensitive account when possible
  • Match fingerprint timezone/language to proxy geo
  • Import/export proxy lists — Help guide
