Proxy Configuration FAQ
Basics
A proxy forwards traffic so sites see the proxy IP, not your real address. Virtual Browser supports HTTP/HTTPS, SOCKS5, residential and datacenter IPs.
Add a proxy
- Open Proxy management in the client
- Add proxy
- Fill type, host, port, username/password if needed
- Save
Examples:
HTTP: 192.168.1.100:8080
SOCKS5: 192.168.1.100:1080
Auth: user:pass@192.168.1.100:8080Connection fails
| Cause | Fix |
|---|---|
| Dead proxy | Contact provider; try another IP |
| Wrong type | HTTP vs SOCKS5 must match |
| Auth error | Verify user/pass; check expiry |
| Firewall | Allow Virtual Browser outbound |
Test a proxy
- Use Test connection in the client
- Launch a profile and visit an IP check site
- Confirm country matches your target market
Slow speed
- Pick geographically closer nodes
- Prefer residential for strict sites, datacenter for speed
- Reduce concurrent profiles
Best practices
- One stable IP per sensitive account when possible
- Match fingerprint timezone/language to proxy geo
