Installation Guide
System requirements
Minimum
- OS: Windows 7 SP1 or later (64-bit); macOS 10.15+ — see System requirements
- CPU: Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64 or newer
- RAM: 4 GB (8 GB+ recommended)
- Disk: At least 2 GB free space
- Network: Stable internet connection
Recommended
- OS: Windows 10 21H2 or Windows 11
- CPU: Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 or newer
- RAM: 16 GB or more
- Disk: SSD with at least 10 GB free
- Network: High-speed connection
Download options
Option 1: GitHub Releases
- Open the Virtual Browser Releases page
- Select the latest Latest Release
- Download the installer:
VirtualBrowser-Setup-x64.exe— 64-bit Windows (recommended)- For macOS, use the Mac tab on the homepage
Option 2: Official website
- Visit virtualbrowser.cc
- Click Download
- Pick the build for your platform
Option 3: Development builds
For bleeding-edge builds:
- Open GitHub Actions
- Download the latest workflow artifact
Installation steps (Windows)
Step 1: Run the installer
- Double-click the downloaded
.exe - If Windows SmartScreen appears, choose Yes to allow the app
- Wait for the installer to initialize
Step 2: Choose install location
- Pick a folder (default is fine)
- Confirm enough free disk space
- Click Next
Step 3: Select components
- Choose components:
- ✅ Virtual Browser (required)
- ✅ Desktop shortcut (recommended)
- ✅ Start menu shortcut (recommended)
- ✅ Automatic update check (recommended)
- Click Next
Step 4: Finish
- Review settings
- Click Install
- Wait for completion
- Click Finish
macOS note
If macOS blocks the app, remove the quarantine attribute (adjust the path if needed):

Post-install setup
First launch
- Start Virtual Browser
- Accept the user agreement
- Choose UI language (Chinese / English)
- Set the default download folder
Network
- Configure proxy if needed
- Set the IP lookup API (recommended)
- Test connectivity
Recommended settings
- Open Settings on the profile list and configure the IP lookup API
- Change the cache directory if needed (export profiles before moving data)
- Improve performance by limiting concurrent launches and using an SSD—see Performance optimization
Verify installation
Basic checks
Create a profile
- Click Create Browser
- Use defaults for a test profile
- Confirm it appears in the list
Launch
- Click Launch
- Confirm the browser opens
- Check fingerprint settings
API (Pro)
- Add API key in the client
- Run a simple API call
- Confirm a valid response
Performance checks
Memory
- Launch 3–5 profiles at once
- Watch RAM usage
- Confirm system stability
Network
- Test proxy speed
- Verify IP changes
- Check connection stability
Common install issues
Installer won’t run
- Re-download the file (checksum / corruption)
- Run as administrator
- Temporarily disable aggressive AV scanning
- Install pending Windows updates
Install hangs
- Wait 5–10 minutes
- Check free disk space
- Restart the installer
- Clear temp files
App crashes on start
- Check OS compatibility
- Update GPU drivers
- Reinstall Visual C++ 2015–2022 Redistributable
- Review client logs
Can’t create profiles
- Check user permissions
- Verify disk space
- Restart the app
- Validate config file integrity
Uninstall
Full removal
- Uninstall from Windows Settings / Control Panel (or drag app to Trash on Mac)
- Optionally delete user data folders
- Optionally clean registry entries (Windows)
- Reboot if needed
Keep data
- Back up config files
- Back up profile data
- Uninstall the app
- Reinstall and restore backups
Updates
Automatic
- Enable auto-update in settings
- The client checks for new versions
- Follow prompts to download
Manual
- Download the new installer
- Run it in upgrade mode when offered
- Keep existing settings and profiles

If installation fails:
